Loopy, a personal newspaper agent

An agent that tells you what’s happening in your field and why it matters to you. Built in three hours at Google’s Build with Gemini.

At almost every event I go to, the conversation ends up at the same question: how do you keep up with everything?

Designers, engineers and PMs all feel like their field is moving faster than they can follow. Everyone has their own mix of blogs, Hacker News, Product Hunt, newsletters and LinkedIn, and the right mix depends on what you do. That’s why no single feed works for everyone.

What is Loopy?

Loopy is an agent that makes you your own newspaper. Tell it what you do and it finds the stories from the last month that matter for your role, with a short note on why each one matters for your work.

How it works

You tell it who you are. Pick a role, like Product Designer or PM, or describe your work in your own words.

It goes looking. A Gemini agent built with ADK reads your role’s sources from Firestore and pulls live from Hacker News and RSS feeds from the last 30 days.

It picks what matters. It ranks stories by how relevant and recent they are, sorts them into news and reads, and writes a short note for each one.

It sticks to real stories. Every story comes with its source and date. If it finds fewer than five good ones, it shows fewer.

It remembers you. Memory Bank saves your role, so your next edition is ready when you come back.

It lays out the paper. With A2UI the agent sends back structured cards, and the frontend arranges them as newspaper pages. It all runs on Agent Platform.

Getting it right

I built Loopy in Antigravity, Google’s agentic development environment. A few things needed fixing along the way.

News for designers. My first briefs for designers read like essays, because design roles only had design blogs as sources. I tagged every source as news or reads and gave every role a mix.

Hacker News. Most new posts had no upvotes yet, so Loopy only pulls stories with 100 points or more.

The notes. The lines on why a story matters started out generic. I pushed the agent to name something specific you could try in your role.

The look. I wanted it to feel like picking up an old newspaper. Your edition gets a masthead named after your role, stories land with an ink stamp, and a typewriter line sets the type while the agent works.

Welcome to my garden, where most of my ideas start.
